Panama

This country links South and North America together and its costalline offers some amazing waves year-round. Surfing in board shorts, experiencing the warm culture and friendly people, this country should make your list of where to surf if it's not already on there. Here you are able to find waves that will cater to every level and mood. Are you mostly cruising on a longboard or mid-length or are you hunting those coverups or learning to surf? There are pointbreaks that are heavy, and there are some nice beaches to learn to surf.

Queerness

Being queer here is legal, even if members of the LGBTQ+ community might not have the same rights, but it is on its way there. With growing support from Panamanians, it is a matter of time. As a tourist and staying at the more international places it is safe, but heading out from the city center you might consider keeping the love affection to your hotel room. Just as a safety precaution.

Bocas del Toro (Caribbean side)

This island towards the north of the country has some of the best waves for all levels. From white sandy beaches that are perfect for beginners to some more powerful waves. The main season to go here is December through March.

Santa Catalina (Pacific side)

This area is considered to be the most reliable spot on the Pacific side. Even though it works year-round the bigger swell comes in from March through October. In this area, you will find expert-level waves and some great beginner waves.
