China

In the land far far east, China is more know for its art, history, buildings/wall, cuisine or its way of living than it is for surfing. But as it has around the globe, surfing has grown here as well, and the most know spot is Hainan, an island located in the south of China. The rich culture of China is something that one should experience at least once in a lifetime, and the added bonus of potential scoring some waves as well is great. On the flat days there are so much to explore.

Queerness

As of 1997 being gay was legal, but that dont mean that everyone are supportive of it. Much of the culture of China once personal life is private and is suppose to lived at the comfort of ones private house. And having sex in public is regarded illegal for both hetero- and homosexual. If you behave respectfully of its culture, it is a really safe country to travel in. The crime is low and people are really friendly.

Hainan

This is the best place to travel to for surfing, its not world class waves, but there are a lot of fun waves. The waves comes with either the typhoon season that normally goes from August to October, or with the monsoon season from November through March, with the most consistent waves in January and February. You can still catch waves outside the season, and during the summer months it is more clam here.

There are two main spots you should check out, Houhai bay and Sun and Moon bay (Riyue bay) , both located at Hainan.
